Position Title: Farmer's Market Assistant Manager
Location: Sudbury, Ontario, Canada
Duration: Summer 2024 (Temporary, Full-Time)
Hours: 30 hours per week
Compensation: $16.55 per hour + 4% vacation pay
Contract Length: 8 weeks, with the possibility of extension
Start Date: As soon as possible

Overview:
Join our vibrant community market this summer! We are seeking a motivated and energetic individual to take on the role of Farmer's Market Assistant Manager. This position plays a key role in facilitating the smooth operation of our weekly markets, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for both vendors and visitors.
Responsibilities:

Assist in the setup and take down of market facilities each market day, including arranging tables, signage, and assisting vendors with unloading their vehicles.

Thoroughly clean market facilities, ensuring all public spaces are maintained to high standards of cleanliness before, during, and after market operations.

Act as the Market Manager in the absence of the Manager, overseeing market activities, handling vendor queries, and ensuring compliance with market rules and regulations.

Support the Market Manager in administrative tasks and vendor coordination.

Engage with vendors and customers to foster a supportive and friendly market atmosphere.

Handle and resolve onsite issues promptly by providing practical solutions.

Assist in social media and marketing for the GSMA by taking high quality photos and engaging with vendors to create social media content.

Assist with directing and training of volunteers.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent; current post-secondary students are encouraged to apply.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work early mornings and on weekends, as required by the market schedule.

Experience in customer service or event management is preferred, but not required.

A positive attitude and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Bi-lingual is an asset.
